CHS Seniors Sweep Nature Coast Envirothon,
Headed to State Finals

Student Writer: Delaney Laurence

The Citrus High Schools Envirothon team delivered a victory in environmental science at the annual Nature Coast Envirothon, outperforming 35 competing teams from Pasco, Sumter, Hernando, and Citrus counties. In a rigorous field competition, the CHS squad secured first-place finishes in the Wildlife, Aquatics, County, and Overall categories. This victory is particularly significant as it marks the second consecutive year this specific roster of scholars have claimed the regional championship. The veteran team is composed entirely of seniors: James Adams, Daniel Crapps, Riley Watkins, Carter Reinfrank, and Lilian Slusser. By clinching the overall title, the team earned a spot at the Florida Envirothon State Competition on April 11th. The event will be held in Boca Raton, where these seniors will represent the Nature Coast region against the state’s elite environmental science programs.

Citrus County School District 2025-2026 Science Fair Winners

Innovation was on full display as we celebrated our incredible students at the Science & Engineering Fair Awards held at the Miles Teller Theatre at Curtis Peterson Auditorium! From creative problem-solving to groundbreaking research, our elementary, middle, and high school students truly impressed the judges.

Hosted through the generous support of Citrus Oral and Facial Surgery and Dr. Rushi S. Patel, D.D.S., Ph.D., in collaboration with the Citrus County Education Foundation, the ceremony honored bright young minds of Citrus County.

We are proud to announce that this year’s top projects will advance to the State competition in Lakeland on March 31 - April 2:
