TRANSPORTATION PROGRESSIVE DISCIPLINE MATRIX
The Bus Expectations video is to be shown to the student for each offense in addition to the consequences listed below.
For Basic Infractions the Bus Driver must complete Step 1, a verbal warning with instruction, and Step 2, parent contact, for a first offense prior to turning the referral into the school. For additional offenses, Step 1 and 2 are to be repeated if the behavior has improved for 30 or more days on the bus for secondary and for 15 or more days on the bus for elementary.
NOTE: Bus Suspensions occurring at the end of the school year will carry over to the following school year. Consequences are progressive regardless of the type of infraction.
* In the case of a student with a disability, suspension of bus privileges must be appropriate in light of the student's Individual Education Plan (IEP) or Section 504 Plan.
A manifestation determination must be conducted for more than ten (10) days of bus suspension for anyone who receives transportation as a related service on his or her IEP or Section 504 Plan.

Basic Infractions include but are not limited to the following:
Not following instructions from the Driver
Drinking, eating, or chewing gum (excluding water in a resealable, crushable container, which is to be stowed)
Note: Food and drinks must be sealed and stowed in lunch boxes, backpacks, sports bags, etc. Insulated cups (Stanley, Yeti, Artic, etc.) are not permitted unless they have a screw on lid and are stowed.
Not in assigned seat / refusing to sit in assigned seat / refusing to change seats when instructed
Not keeping hands to self / Rough Housing
Intentionally leaving trash on bus
Being loud/Yelling
Taking pictures or videos
Not staying seated / Standing / Walking
Failing to provide name
Failing to be quiet at RR crossing
Use of Profanity not directed at employee
Verbal Altercation
Spraying perfume / cologne / body sprays / deodorant / etc.
Public Displays of Affection
Dress Code Violations
Intentionally getting off at the wrong bus stop

First Offense: 1 Day Loss of Bus Privileges, ISS, or Loss of School based privileges and the possibility of OSS
Second Offense: 2 Day either Loss of Bus Privileges and/or ISS with the possibility of OSS
Third Offense: 3 Day either Loss of Bus Privileges and/or ISS with the possibility of OSS
Fourth Offense: 5 Day Loss of Bus Privileges with the possibility of OSS
Fifth Offense: 7 Day Loss of Bus Privileges with the possibility of OSS and in-person meeting with the student and parent before the student is permitted to return to the bus
Sixth Offense: 10 Day Loss of bus Privileges with the possibility of OSS and in-person meeting with the student and parent before the student is permitted to return to the bus
Seventh Offense: 15 Day Loss of Bus Privileges with the possibility of OSS and in-person meeting with the student and parent before the student is permitted to return to the bus
Eighth Offense: 20 Day Loss of Bus Privileges with the possibility of OSS and in-person meeting with the student and parent before the student is permitted to return to the bus
Ninth Offense: 45 Day Loss of Bus Privileges with the possibility of OSS and in-person meeting with the student and parent before the student is permitted to return to the bus
Tenth Offense: Loss of Bus Privileges pending a Bus Expulsion hearing before the School Board. The length of the expulsion will be determined by the School Board.

Severe Infractions include but are not limited to the following:
Profanity directed at employee
Fighting/Punching/Striking/Hitting
Simple Battery on an employee
Spitting/Biting/Licking
Vandalism
Making a threat(s)
Bullying / Harassment
Racism/Prejudice/Racial Slurs
Drug Paraphernalia
False Reporting
Theft
Throwing Objects on bus
Throwing Objects out windows
Inappropriate sexual contact
Taking, sharing, showing sexually explicit pictures
Sexual Harassment
Exposing oneself
Sexually explicit comments
Tampering with safety equipment (seat belts, safety vests/wraps, etc.)

Zero Tolerance Infractions as outlined in the Code of Student Conduct include but are not limited to the following:
> Vaping
> Bringing a firearm or weapon to school
> Violent Criminal Acts
> Student Victimization
> Gang related activity
> Making a violent crime threat or false reporting
> Possession of Controlled substances or alcohol with or without consumption
> Possession of Controlled substances or alcohol by a student and the giving, sharing, delivery or intent to distribute
> Possession of Controlled substances or alcohol by a student and the sale or delivery, or the intent to deliver for compensation to another person

Consequences as outlined in the Code of Student Conduct.
The School District will invoke the most severe consequences provided for in the Code of Student Conduct in dealing with students who engage in violent criminal acts on school property, on school-sponsored transportation, at school bus stops, on school buses, or during school sponsored activities.
