Substitute Teachers - Instructional
What are the requirements to be a Substitute Teacher within the Citrus County School District?
- At least 18 years of age
- High school diploma or GED
- Computer literate
- Current valid driver’s license and social security card
- Your name on your application must match the name on your driver’s license and social security card
- Background screening (via fingerprinting for criminal history and drug testing)
- Completed in our Human Resources Department if offered a position
How do I become a Substitute Teacher within the Citrus County School District?
- Complete the Substitute Teacher application on our website: The School Board of Citrus County, FL Employment Application
- Three non-related references with phone numbers and email addresses must be provided in your application to be processed as a substitute teacher
- Once your application, required documentation, and references have been verified, you will be contacted by our Human Resources Department for a substitute teacher interview
- If offered a position, applicants will be scheduled for a background screening (via fingerprinting and drug testing)
- If offered a position, directions will be provided regarding background screening/drug testing appointments and payment
- There is a fee for the background screening and drug testing
- Applicants are required to pay for background screening and drug testing – both are non-refundable
- Training will be scheduled and required after applicants have been cleared from background screening
- In-person New Substitute training
- ALICE School Safety training
- Seizure training
- Applicants are not eligible to substitute teach until all requirements have been met
