Substitute Teachers

Each person wishing to serve as a Substitute Teacher in Citrus County Schools must be at least 18 years of age, be a high school graduate or have a higher degree, be accessible by telephone and have Instructional Substitute reference form(s) submitted to the Human Resources Department. A Substitute Teacher Training course is required, and everyone wishing to be on the Substitute Teacher list MUST be fingerprinted and submit to a pre-employment drug test.

Your Social Security card and driver's license are required. All paperwork must be made out in the name that appears on your Social Security card. A notary is available in the Human Resources Department to notarize forms.

Please complete the following in order to become a Substitute Teacher for the Citrus County School District:

  • Complete online training courses at https://www.frontlineeducation.com/Insights/ETC_login($20.00). Go to "Registration" and complete the registration form. Then click on "Learning" and then "Browse for Training". Click on " Introductory Teacher Training (for Substitute Teachers)". Take Course #1 (Sub Teaching 101) and Course #2 (Advanced Classroom Management). Upon completion of each course, print the final exam test score sheets.
  • Bring or fax (352-249-2122) the certificates and forms to the attention of Samantha Quandt, Citrus County School District Human Resources Department, 1007 West Main Street, Inverness, FL 34450.
  • Upon receipt of the final exam test score sheets, the Human Resources Department will contact you to schedule fingerprinting and drug testing. The fee for fingerprinting is $50.00, and the fee for drug testing is $32.25.

SUBSTITUTES ARE CALLED ON AN "AS NEEDED" BASIS WITH NO GUARANTEE OF HOURS.

YOU WILL NOT BE PLACED ON THE SUBSTITUTE LIST UNTIL ALL REQUIREMENTS HAVE BEEN MET.
