Vision Screenings

Thanks to the Homosassa Lions Club, 9th and 10th grade students in Citrus County Schools can have their vision screened, which helps identify and issues with their vision for further follow up with an eye doctor. It is beneficial to students to identify any issues early on to prevent vision loss.

The Lions Club also provides money to some of our nurses to become members of the National Association of School Nurses which provides students with free vision vouchers to have an eye exam and either glasses or contact lenses worth $400 per student, if they are unable to afford them.

Since mid-December, 380 9th grade students have taken advantage of this program and 55 have been referred to an eye doctor for follow-up. 318 10th grade students have been seen and 49 have been referred to an eye doctor for follow-up.

There are a few more opportunities for students at the following schools to be seen.

We also want to thank the Inverness Lions Club for sponsoring vision screenings to our Pre-School students in Citrus County Schools.

Thank you all for supporting our students well-being!
