Mission Statement :

The mission of the Code Compliance Department is to promote the highest level of safety possible in an educational environment for all students, staff and visitors.

A major responsibility of Code Compliance is to perform the State Requirements for Educational Facilities (SREF) inspections which involves inspecting every room in every school district facility annually. This includes approximately 250 buildings/4600 rooms.

We address fire code issues, playground safety, indoor air quality and other concerns. We also ensure that all required inspections are completed. This includes hood suppression systems, fire extinguishers, sprinkler systems, fire alarm systems, boilers, elevators and county inspections such as health and fire safety.

In addition, we investigate all health and safety issues such as indoor air quality concerns and work to correct the problem as quickly as possible.

Other tasks include training and working with the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) on our response plan for emergencies, and facilitating regular District Safety and Security meetings.

We strive to create and maintain the highest level of safety possible in our educational environment for all students, staff and visitors.
