Citrus County Schools

Our four lego league teams went to a qualifier on December 13^th. This page will be updated upon talking to the different students and mentors that attended competition to discuss successes and suggestions for the future. 

This team is our oldest Lego League team, and has an amazing history of determination! Originally known as the Cyber Punks, the team was started at Crystal River Middle School in the 2023-2024 First Lego League season. Due to some unforseen circumstances, the team would not see competition that year. However, those team members joined the High School team the following year talking about how much just being able to partipate either in the Lego League or the Tech Challenge team was an amazing experience and still got their foot in the door towards STEM skills and careers. Many even joined our Computer Science Academny at Citrus High School! 

As the person in charge of the team had growing responsibilities, the team was passed on to our High School Robotics Team, the Olympians, to help get started during the 2024-2025 First Lego League Season: Submerged. While not many were on the team during that year (we had two students stay on, with only one student able to go to competition), our county made a huge wave at our qualifier that year. We didn’t go to the next level, but our team won the Breakthrough Award for how far they came, as well as showing those CORE Values: Discovery, Innovation, Impact, Inclusion, Teamwork, and Fun.
