We are proud to announce that Robin Coolbeth and Laura Ubinas of Inverness Middle School, Laura Norton of Lecanto Middle School, Catherine Owens of Crystal River Middle School, Vernon Owens of Crystal River High School, and Sabrina Parente of Lecanto High School have all been recognized as Achieve3000 PRO Educators. Achieve 3000 is a literacy growth program that is being used with students in our district for students in grades 6-12.

This recognition is reserved for the most professional, resourceful, and outstanding educators who are successfully helping their students accelerate their literacy growth. Achieve3000 PROs receive several benefits including membership in the PRO Educator Network, access to free student prizes, special webinars and thought leadership sessions, and $300 travel vouchers for the National Literacy Summit that is scheduled to take place at Disney’s Coronado Resort in November of this year.

Citrus County Public Schools has been using Achieve3000’s solutions since 2016 with students in middle and high schools. Overall, students in our schools met or exceeded their expected literacy growth during the 2018-19 school year. By the end of the 2018-19 school year, there were twice as many middle and high school students whose reading levels were on track for college and career readiness than at the start of the year.

Dr. Scott Hebert, Chief Academic Officer for Citrus County Schools says these teachers deserve to be celebrated for what they’re doing for our students.  “You’ve got to get kids excited about learning.  We want every child to reach their potential with this program and these teachers have embraced Achieve3000 and are making sure their students are ready for the future.”

Achieve 3000 as a resource paired with engaging standards-based instruction provides a rich classroom learning environment. Mary Leonard, 6-12 Program Specialist for English/Language Arts states, “These teachers, as well as other teachers implementing this program, utilize the relevant topics provided to increase students reading abilities, create more motivation, and in turn celebrate student successes”.
