The Florida School Boards Association (FSBA) recently announced that Mr. Joseph Faherty, a dedicated member of the Citrus County School Board, has earned the prestigious distinction of Certified Board Member (CBM).

To achieve this designation, Mr. Faherty successfully completed an intensive 96-hour training program covering critical areas such as policy, school finance, and bargaining. This recognition places him among a distinguished group, as only 31% of school board members statewide hold the CBM distinction.

“I am proud to recognize Joe as a Certified Board Member,” said FSBA Leadership Services Director Tina Pinkoson. “Since his election in 2022, Joe has demonstrated a willingness and desire to learn, and this achievement reflects his commitment to serving the students and families of Citrus County.”

“Congratulations, Mr. Faherty, on this notable achievement,” said Superintendent Dr. Scott Hebert. “Your dedication to serving our community and advancing educational excellence in Citrus County is truly commendable. I am confident you will continue to make a lasting impact on the students and families of our district.”

The Certified Board Member (CBM) program is one of several professional development initiatives offered by the FSBA to ensure school board members have a well-rounded understanding of their responsibilities as policymakers. These programs play a vital role in supporting effective school board leadership and advocating for public education across Florida.

The Florida School Boards Association serves as the professional organization for school boards throughout the state. Its mission is to enhance student achievement by fostering strong school board leadership and promoting advocacy efforts that benefit Florida's public education system.
