Today, newly sworn-in
Florida School Boards Association (FSBA) President Angie Gallo announced committee leadership appointments—and we are proud to share that both Mr. Faherty and Mr. Kennedy will continue to represent Citrus County at the state level.

Mr. Joe Faherty has been reappointed to serve as Chair of the FSBA School Safety Committee. This vital committee coordinates legislation, statute compliance, and shares best practices for school safety and security across Florida. With nearly 30 years of law enforcement and juvenile justice experience, Mr. Faherty brings unmatched expertise to a committee that engages with both state and national law enforcement and school security leaders.

Mr. Thomas Kennedy, a past FSBA President, will continue to lead the FSBA Artificial Intelligence and IT in Education Committee. Under his leadership, the committee has brought together state and national experts to guide school board members on policy, curriculum, operational efficiency, and AI integration in education. Mr. Kennedy also serves on Florida’s K–12 AI Task Force based at the University of Florida’s CSEveryone Center. His recent work has been featured in statewide AI panels and lectures focused on the evolving role of AI in education.
Join us in celebrating these outstanding leaders as they continue to represent Citrus County students, staff, and educators, while also helping shape the future of education across the state.
