High School Academy Applications

Interested in one of our highly competitive academies?  

Academy of Health Careers – CRHS: This program prepares high school students for careers in nursing, biomedical sciences, dental assisting, emergency medical responding, and as an emergency medical technician. Skills developed in these programs include using tools and technology in the workplace, using quantitative skills appropriately, working within a team, developing effective written and verbal communication skills, understanding complex materials, and learning to critically think on the job.

The Academy of Health Careers is comprised of approximately 250 students who were screened using equitable criteria that correlates with student success in the program. Students are evaluated on their attendance, academic grades, and behavior in the classroom. A typed essay is also a component of the process.

Academy of Environmental Science – Crystal River:
Located on the beautiful Salt River, the waterfront location of the Academy provides the perfect setting for 9th and 10th-grade students to explore their environment.  Classes created to offer hands-on, project-based learning opportunities to ensure connections to the real world. 

International Baccalaureate Program – LHS: a rigorous pre-university course of study that meets the needs of the highly motivated secondary school student.  All IB diploma candidates are required to engage in the study of languages, sciences, mathematics, and social studies in the final two years of the secondary schooling.

Academy of Computer Science – CHS: Provides students with the best foundation possible in the computer sciences arena. Students will earn Microsoft Office Specialist certifications, learn coding using the Python programming language, take Advanced Placement courses and more.

Lecanto School of Art - LHS: a program designed especially for students with a high interest in visual arts.  The program has graduated over 200 art students many of which received offers for art scholarships worth a combined total of over two million dollars.

IMPORTANT: The application window starts December 1st, 2019 and ends January 31st, 2020. All applications will be reviewed between February 1st, 2020 and February 28th, 2020. Acceptance notifications will begin on March 1st, 2020.
