Superintendent Unveils New District Logo at School Board Meeting

INVERNESS, FL — A new era begins today for Citrus County Schools.

During today’s School Board meeting, Superintendent Dr. Scott Hebert proudly unveiled the district’s new logo — a bold and modern visual that reflects the district’s mission to prepare every student for success beyond high school. The unveiling included a short video that explained the inspiration and meaning behind the design and celebrated the evolution of the district’s identity over time.

The new logo, which replaces the long-standing apple-in-the-C design used for over 20 years, reflects a fresh, unified vision for the district. At its center is a golden graduation cap, symbolizing academic achievement. Below it, three pathways in blue, green, and black represent the various futures students pursue — college, career, and military or service.

“Our new logo honors our past while representing who we are today and where we’re headed,” said Superintendent Dr. Scott Hebert. “It’s a symbol of purpose, growth, and unity of our community — a visual reminder of our commitment to every student’s success.”

What sets this rebranding apart is that it was designed entirely in-house by the Citrus County Schools Communications Team. No outside consultants were hired. Dr. Hebert made it a priority to remain fiscally responsible throughout the process.

A large-scale version of the new logo was also revealed on the wall inside the School Board Room during the meeting, before the video was played. The logo also features orange accents and a leaf at the top — a nod to the district’s name and a visual tie to the Citrus County community.

Notably, the pathway colors were intentionally chosen to represent not just the district’s three high schools — Citrus, Crystal River, and Lecanto — but also every school in the district. At least one of the three colors is reflected in each school, from elementary to postsecondary institutions, making the design truly districtwide.

For the past couple of months, during Dr. Hebert’s listening tour, feedback from community members, teachers, students and staff was used to help guide, modify and eliminate options.
